Striking designs, intricate motifs, and flowing cuts define Azzalia’s latest Ramadan collection. Inspired by the shape of the Kazu (cashew) or paisley, the ‘Kazu’ collection uses the motif that forms an important part of South Asian culture.
“I was always surrounded by strong and progressive women,” Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum, founder and creative director of Azzalia, says in a release. “My grandmother was also one of them. She was an astute businesswoman who traded in fashion garments. She sourced fabrics from all over the world, especially India, and the Kazu motif was a recurrent theme on these gorgeous textiles.”
With Azzalia’s latest Ramadan collection, Sheikha Amal decided to incorporate paisley into her designs in a minimalist and contemporary way by making use of 3D techniques. It boasts pieces in a combination of bold and classic colours, including mango, hot pink, tomato red, snow white, lavender, silver cloud, and black.
The line spans Azzalia’s three staple ranges to match the fashion sensibilities of every woman, whether they’re looking for casual semi-formals, or vibrant couture. “We’ve used a variety of fabrics for our Daisy line including pure cottons, printed rayons, and soft silks, whereas our Lily line exclusively focuses on silks to create loose mariposa cuts, one-shoulder dresses and beautiful gathers that add volume, oomph and elegant movement in each piece,” Sheikha Amal added.
The collection carries more than 30 styles, giving tastemakers the chance to stand out this Ramadan. The brand will launch new looks for the upcoming Eid season, and its travel-wear and resort collections. The Kazu Ramadan collection is now available at Azzalia.ae, Thouqi.com, Boksha.com, Saks Fifth Avenue Bahrain and Tryano.
