The design vocabulary of the resort takes a cue from nature and brings the outside in through its colour palette, furnishings, and a well-curated art collection. On view are artworks by Taiwanese Cheng Tsung Feng, digitally manipulated pieces by Delhi-based multidisciplinary artist Sumit Mehndiratta, and sculptures by Australian Sebastian Di Mauro.

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands prioritises sustainable practices in both its design and day-to-day operations. Envisioned by Singapore-based Kerry Hill Architects, each aspect of the design has been carefully planned to safeguard the fragile reef ecosystem of the Fari Islands.

The resort’s 100 villas are constructed with prefabricated materials that ensure zero waste. Its ingenious design means that natural light brightens up the space, and the cool ocean breeze and sophisticated glazing limit the requirements of air-conditioning. The resort also makes use of solar panels, sustainable materials, and low-maintenance finishing, allowing it to minimise its carbon footprint.

Each villa comes with its own infinity pool, expansive water views, private sundeck and even a private butleran Aris Meeha, named after the Islands’ traditional royal assistants. Among the pièces de résistance of the experience is the Ritz-Carlton Estate—a cosy family-style residence with a private beach, fully equipped kitchen, spa with exclusive Bamford products, private chef, designated buggy for transport and, of course, an Aris Meeha.
