I’m the founder and CEO of Karama Yoga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and I’ve been a certified yoga teacher and practitioner for over a decade. I started doing yoga to alleviate stress and find peace within myself, but it soon became a way of life for me. I’ve been fortunate enough to share my love for it with others through my work at Karama Yoga, and I’m excited to reveal some of my experiences and wellness tips to you.
Among my top wellness tips is to incorporate yoga into your daily routine. Even a few minutes of gentle stretching and deep breathing can help reduce stress and increase self-awareness. Yoga is more than just physical exercise—it’s a lifestyle that encompasses meditation, mindfulness and growth.
Through my own yoga journey, I’ve learnt to embrace the present moment and find inner solace. I encourage my students to do the same and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the blessings in their lives.
One of my favourite things about teaching yoga is seeing the transformation of my students. I’ve witnessed individuals suffering from physical ailments and emotional struggles, who were able to heal and find balance in their lives through consistent practice.
At Karama Yoga, I conduct a variety of classes and workshops all year long. The sessions range from gentle yoga for beginners to vinyasa flow for experienced practitioners, so there’s something for everyone. I also offer specialised classes that revolve around women’s health, like prenatal and postnatal yoga, as well as workshops on meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), and more.
Yoga is a powerful self-care tool and it’s something anyone can do, regardless of age and fitness level. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of preparing meals and attending gatherings, but it’s important to make time for yourself. Whether it’s taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, or going for a walk surrounded by nature, you must prioritise your wellbeing.
As we navigate challenges after the COVID-19 pandemic and other daily stressors, it’s more important than ever to focus on health and wellness. Through yoga and other self-care practices, you can find the strength to face whatever comes your way. I encourage you to join me on this journey and explore its many benefits yourself.
