It is strange to think that in a world where social media often reigns supreme, Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta would decide to leave Instagram after gaining over 2.5 million followers throughout the years.
While under the direction of English fashion designer Daniel Lee, the brand deleted its account a few weeks after debuting the Spring 2021 collection in a private viewing at Saddler’s Wells Theatre in London.
Bottega Veneta also deleted both its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Ever since being appointed creative director in 2018 and winning both Designer of the Year and Brand of the Year at the 2019 Britain’s Fashion Awards, Lee has made a mark in the fashion industry and paved the way for a unique and evolutionary approach.
Bottega Veneta is part of global luxury group Kering, which also includes big names such as Gucci, Balenciaga, Boucheron, and Saint Laurent.
It is famous for its complex weaving patterns often found on three famous Bottega Veneta bags: the Cabat, the Knot, and the Pouch bag.
Many believe this is part of Lee’s future plans for the brand, while others fear that Bottega Veneta’s absence on social media could affect its long-term success.
We’re waiting to see what’s next with bated breath.
