King Abdullah II and Queen Rania have welcomed their second granddaughter, as their daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, has given birth to her first child.
Less than a month after Her Majesty Queen Rania announced Princess Iman’s pregnancy via an Instagram post — sharing a romantic photo of her daughter and her husband against the Aqaba sunset, showcasing her baby bump — the Royal Hashemite Court issued a statement this morning confirming the joyous news.
“The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II and Mr Jameel Alexander Thermiotis were blessed, on 16 February 2025, with a baby girl they have named Amina.”
It added, “Her Royal Highness delivered the baby at Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Hospital in Aqaba.”
King Abdullah II took to his official X account to congratulate his daughter, sharing the first photo of himself holding his newborn granddaughter. The King wrote, “I congratulate my dearest Iman and Jameel on the birth of their daughter.”
The couple welcomed their first daughter early this morning, as indicated by the time displayed on both King Abdullah II’s and Jameel’s watches, which caught the attention of fans. The photo showed the time on the King’s watch as 10:15 AM and 10:33 AM on Jameel’s watch. Born just a couple of days after Valentine’s Day, baby Amina was the perfect gift for the couple.
The happy couple wed in March 2023 at Beit Al Urdun Palace in Amman, following their engagement in 2022. The bride looked simply stunning in a Dior gown, complemented by the twinkling Chaumet tiara which was gifted to her by her parents.
Following the wedding, Queen Rania shared an emotional message on social media: “Iman, I pray this next chapter in your life brings you as much joy, love, and laughter as you have brought us over the years. Congratulations to the bride and groom!”
Jameel Alexander Thermiotis was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in April 1994 to Alexandros Thermiotis and Corina Hernández. The eldest of three siblings, he has a sister, Alexia, and a brother, Alejandros. He comes from a prominent Greek family with a strong connection to its heritage.
Thermiotis attended a private school in Venezuela before pursuing higher education in the United States. In 2015, he graduated with a Major in Business Administration and Finance from Florida International University, paving the way for his career in the financial sector. After graduation, he spearheaded a venture capital firm called Outbound Ventures LLC and later became a managing partner at a New York City-based venture capital firm.
The couple are believed to have met in the United States through mutual friends, as Princess Iman also pursued her studies there. She initially attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., before transferring to Parsons School of Design in New York City, where Thermiotis was also based while working in finance.
