AlUla Creates Short Film Competition Empowers Saudi Women Filmmakers

The Royal Commission for AlUla’s film agency has launched the ‘AlUla Creates’ short film competition to promote the talents of female filmmakers in Saudi Arabia. Partnered with Vertigo Films, Haifaa Al Mansour and Katie Holmes have come onboard as mentors.

Vertigo Films, known for nurturing new talents, joins Film AlUla to provide a platform for the next generation of Saudi women filmmakers, encouraging diverse perspectives.

Haifaa Al Mansour, a pioneering Saudi filmmaker, will mentor the aspiring directors, sharing her global recognition and experience.

‘AlUla Creates’ nurtures creativity and empowers future generations in film, arts, and fashion. It’s the second phase of the AlUla filmmaking mentoring program, shaping the industry’s future by promoting diverse voices and stories.

Submissions are open until 31 August, 2023. The selected filmmakers will receive a $20,000 production grant, three months of mentoring, and a trip to London to connect with industry professionals.
