Upcoming Design Events Across the Middle East as the Region’s Design Scene Thrives with New Events.

A new wave of major and exciting design events in the Middle East is about to begin, with design weeks returning next month and bringing a line-up of exhibitions and installations that continue to enrich the creative scene across the region. From Dubai Design Week, one of the region’s leading creative festivals, to the long-awaited return of Amman Design Week after a six-year hiatus, discover the design events to have on your calendar.

Downtown Design Riyadh

Downtown Design Riyadh’s second edition will run from 15–18 September 2026, at JAX District, in partnership with the Architecture and Design Commission of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture. Its inaugural edition welcomed almost 50 exhibitors over four days. Downtown Design Riyadh will present a curated selection of contemporary design alongside a programme of installations, industry-focused experiences and contributions from regional practitioners.

Amman Design Week

After a six-year hiatus, Amman Design Week will return for its fourth edition on 2–17 October 2026 at various locations across Amman, Jordan. This year’s theme, Accumulations, reflects on the layers that shape design over time, from materials and processes to ideas, memories, and shared knowledge. It considers how creative practices are built gradually, through continuous acts of making, reflecting, and evolving. Founded by ‬Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan in 2016, to empower local and regional design and culture. 

Dubai Design Week

The region’s largest creative gathering returns with six days of fairs, trade shows, conferences, exhibitions, markets and pop-ups across Dubai Design District. Running from 4–8 November, Downtown Design anchors the programme, alongside Abwab, whose 2026 edition, In Other Words, explores how language is communicated and remembered, as well as the Urban Commissions competition and editions. Also returning to the line-up is the d3 Awards, launched last year as a regional prize celebrating emerging MENA design talent.

Design Doha Biennale

The second edition will take place from 5 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, with the biennial returning as planned and headlined by the Arab Design Now exhibition, featuring 81 designers and 78 new commissions. Together, the works and exhibitions explore how tradition, gesture and material memory can offer a sense of orientation amid rapid transformation. French architect and designer India Mahdavi will chair the jury for Design Doha.

NOMAD Abu Dhabi

Following a successful inaugural edition that welcomed names including Bottega Veneta, NOMAD returns to Abu Dhabi from 18–22 November 2026. Held at Terminal 1 of Zayed International Airport, the Gulf Modernist landmark designed by French architect Paul Andreu, the fair brings together leading galleries, collectors, curators and cultural figures. Staged in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, NOMAD offers a growing platform for contemporary art and design in the region.

Cairo Design Week

Cairo Design Week (CDW) will come alive across the three districts of Zamalek, Downtown Cairo and Heliopolis from 19–28 November 2026, bringing together designers, brands, cultural institutions and creative communities from across Egypt, the region and beyond. Last year’s edition brought together more than 100 designers, 150 exhibitors and 80 speakers, establishing Cairo Design Week as one of MENA’s largest creative platforms by participation.
