The Legacy Continues: Tiffany & Co. Reimagines the Iconic Bird on a Rock

Tiffany & Co. has unveiled its latest fine jewellery creations centred around the house’s most emblematic motif, Bird on a Rock. Inspired by Jean Schlumberger’s original Bird on a Rock brooch from 1965, the new collection is guided by the creative vision of Nathalie Verdeille, Senior Vice President and Chief Artistic Officer of Jewellery and High Jewellery, who explores the motif through distinct interpretations and features figural birds embellished with details inspired by archival creations.

For more than half a century, Bird on a Rock has symbolised joy, optimism and possibility. Whimsical yet refined, the design embodies a spirit of imagination and adventure while showcasing the inventive artistry and exceptional craft behind every Tiffany & Co. creation.

The newest figural Bird on a Rock by Tiffany creations are hand sculpted and hand polished in 18k yellow gold; no surface is left untouched. These sculptural birds also evoke solar flares. Along the wing tips, body and collar, subtle chevron details are meticulously engraved, lending additional dimensionality to each piece.

The collection also introduces new Bird on a Rock by Tiffany Wings designs, an abstract interpretation inspired by the symbolic power of flight. Honouring Jean Schlumberger’s legacy of integrating multiple metals within a single design, the newest Wings creations feature alternating wings in 18k gold and platinum. Each wing is individually crafted and defined by three feathers that nestle seamlessly into the neighbouring wing, creating a striking sense of movement and dimension. The line includes narrow necklaces, rings, drop earrings, an articulated bracelet, and metal-only options in yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum.

In addition to the fine jewellery pieces, the new Bird on a Rock Feathers high jewellery designs transform the motif into breathtaking pieces that evoke intricate compositions of diamond feathers. These designs reinterpret the bird’s collar plumage through sculptural compositions of platinum, 18k gold and diamonds, balancing abstraction and naturalism in a distinctly contemporary manner. Tiffany & Co. will also debut Bird on a Rock high jewellery creations with figural birds that seemingly interact with one another.

Together, the newest Bird on a Rock by Tiffany designs demonstrate the enduring legacy of both Tiffany & Co. craftsmanship and Jean Schlumberger’s vision. Whether rendered through a sculptural bird poised in motion or through abstract wings, each creation captures the spirit of optimism, imagination and freedom that has defined Bird on a Rock for more than 60 years.

The new Bird on a Rock pieces will be available starting on September 1 in select Tiffany & Co. stores.
