Where To, Chanel? This Is The Cruise 2020 Collection’s Next Stop

Chanel’s creative director Virginie Viard sure seems to be following in Karl Lagerfeld’s footsteps, as she continues to take the French maison’s latest creations around the world. For her debut, Cruise 2020, collection that was showcased at Paris’s Grand Palais in May this year, she has her eyes set on Hong Kong.

The collection is scheduled to be re-shown on 6 November at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, which is perched on top of the site of an old airport runway that sits at the core of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor, all amidst wondrous views of skyscrapers and the old-town Kowloon.

The show will certainly not be a regurgitation of the Parisian one and will give a nod to the new surroundings. The Paris showcase was set against the backdrop of a train station, with the audience seated on the platform and models walking alongside the railway tracks.

A lesson in femininity, the collection featured Chanel’s trademark black and white tones but colourful accents abounded – think about tweek jackets, florals, denim and belt bags. We await the Hong Kong rendition with bated breath.
