If you’re a fossil collector or have a penchant for artifacts, now’s the time to start bidding. The 155-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton, which stands tall in the atrium at The Dubai Mall as a key visitor attraction, is currently being auctioned. Emirates Auction has announced that it’s holding the first auction of its kind to find Diplodocus Longus a new home. The starting bid is Dhs14.6 million and the final gavel will strike on 25 August.
Popularly known as the ‘Dubai Dino’, the dinosaur is 24 meters long and 7.6 meters high, and hails from the late Jurassic period. Aged 25 when it died and weighing the same as five elephants, it was discovered in 2008 at the Dana Quarry in Wyoming, USA and its remains were then flown to Dubai.
