As part of the UAE’s continued efforts towards containing COVID-19, the national sterilization program has now been scheduled for 24 hours for the next two weeks, a decision that’s subject to extension. Strict restrictions on movement have been enforced and legal action will be taken against violators, all to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

According to Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, in coordination with Command & Control Centre for Combating COVID-19, the sterilization program, which was implemented from 26 March from 8:00pm until 6:00am, will now be conducted round-the-clock.

While grocery stores and pharmacies remain open, and food and medicine deliveries is allowed, only one family member is permitted to leave the house to shop for essential items. Everyone is advised to wear gloves and a mask and continue observing social distancing protocols.
The stipulations exempt those working in specific vital sectors, who are permitted to leave their houses but not without proof of identification and employment. As of 5 April, there have been 1,505 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UAE, with 10 deaths and 125 recoveries.
