The UAE Sends Medical Supplies To Italy Amid The COVID-19 Pandemic

In a splendid display of generosity, the UAE has sent 10 tonnes of medical supplies to Italy to help medics tackle the Coronavirus pandemic. The shipment is meant to support more than 10,000 doctors and nurses, according to the UAE government, reported The National, and contains 10,000 hand sanitizers, 30,000 face masks and medical protective gowns, 500,000 gloves and 20,000 Coronavirus testing kits.

As one of the worst-affected countries, Italy has a recorded 128,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and more than 15,000 deaths as of Monday, 6 April.  Upon receiving the aid, Italy’s Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio wrote a heatwarming message on Instagram, thanking the UAE government for the gesture. “Thank you to my colleague Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his friendship and solidarity. A gesture we won’t forget,” Mr Luigi wrote on his official Instagram account.
