Review: The New St Regis Amman Is A Regional Gem

Situated in Amman’s Fifth Circle, the new St Regis Hotel is a design marvel, one that depicts the timelessness of the St Regis brand and flagship hotel in New York. The 258-room hotel boasts elegance, art, and modernity. With picturesque rooms overlooking Amman’s upscale Abdoun district, the hotel offers direct views of the Jordanian city’s spectacular landscape.

Mercardo Andaluz offers some of the best Spanish cuisine that takes a cue from the east of Spain. As soon as you walk in, a waft of rich Spanish delights will consume you. Chef Jose offers typical Spanish tapas from croquetas to ceviche to gazpacho.

Tamara, named after the mythological goddess of rivers and water, offers a modern fusion of Levantine cuisine and Jordanian delicacies. With romantic lighting, the restaurant draws you in with artistic dishes and some of the best seafood from the region. The Tea Lounge is inherently St Regis, with a delightful menu that you can relish with friends and family.

Iconic midnight supper

The St Regis was founded by John Jacob Astor, who is most notably known as a businessman and real estate developer from New York, and also one of the passengers who lost their lives on the Titanic in 1912. The hotel goes to great lengths to preserve the customs of this iconic family. His mother, Caroline Astor, was known for her midnight suppers and doyenne. Her intimate parties are a treasured chapter in the St Regis’s ethos and social heritage.

Most recently, the hotel inaugurated its midnight suppers. Hosted in the hotel’s ballroom, guests were guided down a winding staircase and ushered into a room of foliage and seated at flower-lined tables and large candelabras. Attuned to the Caroline Astor midnight supper style, these delicious spreads will be offered to future guests by exclusive invitation.

Speaking at the supper was Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director of Middle East and Africa for Marriott International, who said, “St Regis is one of the most time-honored hotel brands in the world, rich with legacy and traditions that transcend generations and cultures to leave a lasting impression on our guests. The St Regis Amman will be a beacon of new luxury in Jordan’s capital city and we’re thrilled to bring to life the brand’s signature rituals and the promise of ‘Live Exquisite’ at Jordan’s best address.”
