Bahraini Brand Noon By Noor And Others Dazzle At London Fashion Week 2021

After two iterations of London Fashion Week (LFW) happening only digitally, the long-awaited event made a partial return to the physical space this year, alongside a string of digital presentations. Running until 21 September, LFW will see around 130 designers showcasing their Spring-Summer 2022 collections that will define the aesthetic vocabulary of the season.

Among the participating brands is Bahrain-based Noon By Noor, which made its LFW debut with ‘Collection 2 – Spring 2022’ on 18 September, whilst hosting pre-booked appointments throughout the day. Founded by Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa and having previously showcased at 16 consecutive New York Fashion Week seasons, the brand’s riveting presentation has further bolstered its presence in the global sphere.

“A photograph of Bahraini pearl divers in their sarongs gently gathered and tied at the waist, mixed with dreams of summer sunshine, holiday memories and flowers, were the starting point for our summer collection development,” reads a message about the collection from Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya on the brand’s website.

Among other highlights was a stellar film by Halpern, featuring ballet dancers from the Royal Opera House in the label’s latest pieces, offering a mélange of fashion and dance. “Each creation is dedicated to showcasing a specific type of movement activated by the physicality of the ballet,” according to the brand’s official statement on social media.

In Vivienne Westwood’s signature eccentric style, the eponymous brand’s S-S 22 line, titled ‘Save Our Souls’, nodded to the present-day sociopolitical and environmental setting, calling for action to be taken to put an end to warfare and climate change.

Temperley took a cue from Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile for its latest collection through a 1970s lens, referencing the new-age decorative movement with its feminine motifs and modern bohemian glamor that brought together elements like hothouse palms and Moroccan mosaics.

What are the other shows on our radar? Erdem, Emilia Wickstead, Simone Rocha and Roksanda, which will be showing their latest offerings over the next two days. We await the shows with bated breath.
