Sarah Paulson Attends The Emmys In Jewelry By A Black Designer As Part Of De Beers Group’s ‘Black Is Brilliant’ Initiative

At the 73rd edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards, Sarah Paulson adorned the most stunning pair of diamond earrings by Mateo, a New York-based, black-owned brand. The piece was created for coveted jeweler, De Beers Group, as part of its new ‘Black is Brilliant’ initiative to promote black designers.

Mateo was founded in 2009 by Matthew Harris, who was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica, who was the son of a seamstress. He arrived in the US at the age of 16 to attend college and soon found his passion for the art of jewelry making.

“In partnership with RADvocacy, ‘Black is Brilliant’ brings together exceptional black designers with top stylists to collaboratively create jewelry, exclusively featuring ethically and sustainably sourced De Beers diamonds from Botswana,” read the caption of a post by De Beers Group.

“The custom creations will debut on the world’s most esteemed Red Carpets, giving the designers deserved visibility and showcasing the Power of Black Designers while also creating impact through donations to charities that further Black Excellence.”
