Members of Dubai’s ruling family took to Instagram to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the grandson of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. He received the prestigious Swords of Honour and the international award from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The young royal, who shared his remarkable achievements on his official Instagram, was met with a wave of recognition and support from his family and followers online.
Following in the footsteps of his late father, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and his uncles, who graduated from the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy, Sheikh Rashid enrolled in the academy shortly after his graduation from Repton Dubai in 2023.
Sheikh Rashid will be awarded the Sword of Honour during his graduation ceremony. Before him, his uncle, His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, received this prestigious award in 2006, making the family proud of his remarkable achievement.
The Sword of Honour is bestowed on the best cadet. It is a mark of distinction for one of the highest scorers of the academy’s gruelling 44-week course, which tests the physical and mental mettle of its young cadets.
Sheikh Mohammed is the only son of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed, the eldest son of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, who passed away in 2015.
Sheikh Mohammed’s graduation followed a decades-long tradition of Middle Eastern rulers and royals attending the institution. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE, is an alumnus as is his son, Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed. Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed also graduated as did the late King Hussein of Jordan, his son King Abdullah II and his grandson Crown Prince Hussein.
