Looking Back At Chaumet’s First Middle Eastern Patrimonial Exhibition In Riyadh

Past March, the King Fahad National Library in Riyadh unveiled Chaumet’s immersive Tiara Dream exhibition. For 10 days, the event transported visitors on a unique journey through the Maison’s iconic emblem, the tiara.

Known as a symbol of power, prestige, eternity and love, the tiara has been at the core of the brand since its inception 242 years ago. The Riyadh exhibition featured its most exceptional contemporary and historical creations, some of which belonged to French Empress Joséphine, the wife of Emperor Napoléon. In addition to the physical showcase, digital scenography offered an immersive look at the timeless moments in the jewel’s history.

Handcrafted by master artisans, famous for their intricate craftsmanship and Parisian refinement, the Maison’s contemporary collection of tiaras includes the Laurier, which weaves delicate silver laurel leaves into a subtle headpiece; the Soleil Glorieux in striking white and yellow gold; and the timeless Dentelle de Lumière, set with 18-carat white gold.

Chaumet is known for its legacy of high jewellery, and the exhibition reflected on its association not only with French but also Saudi Arabian cultural heritage. For centuries, art and literature in France and Saudi Arabia have been inspired by similar symbols and sources, from the glimmer of Napoléon’s sword to the stars in the sky.

Saudi designer Honayda Saleh Serafi was commissioned to exclusively design a bridal gown for Chaumet, which she imbued with her timeless aesthetic sensibilities. Her work also displays a bridging of cultures, drawing on aspects of the imperial style of Empress Joséphine and the Najdi costume from Her Highness Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman Al Saud, a Saudi royal and businesswoman.

The Tiara Dream exhibition was an exploration of this cultural narrative and took the guests on a sensory journey like no other. For a re- gal experience, head to Chaumet’s recently opened flagship boutique at Kingdom Centre in Riyadh, where visitors can discover the latest jewellery creations from the Maison’s most coveted collections, like Bee My Love, Joséphine and Liens.

Chaumet Tiara Dream exhibition ran from 16-26 March 2022 at the King Fahad National Library in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Visit Chaumet.com and follow @Chaumet_arabia on Instagram
