Cartier’s En Équilibre teaches a masterclass in balance. The 115-piece collection, which was unveiled in Stockholm (a measured and distinctive choice), invites fans of the Maison to embrace a sense of dichotomy.
“It is the art of equilibrium,” explains Jacqueline Karachi, Director of High Jewellery Creation, “engraved at the heart of our approach.”
Ahead of the showcase, Cartier announced actor Gemma Chan as its newest brand ambassador. Known for her role in Crazy Rich Asians, Gemma has a longstanding relationship with the Maison and, most recently, donned Cartier jewels at the Grand Dîner du Louvre.
Here are some of the standout pieces of the En Équilibrethe collection by Cartier.
A marriage of curves and simplicity, Shito has two 49.37-carat Zambian emerald drops, which are asymmetrical and suspended in diamond-encrusted curves. Joined by an X of diamonds and fastened by an adjustable clasp set with diamonds, the piece is elegance objectified.
As delicate as a whisper, Hyala rests as a second skin when worn. The rose gold base of the necklace gives the illusion of sapphires and diamonds being set directly onto the neck. With a 5.71-carat oval diamond and a small pear drop, this spiderweb-delicate design sparkles with transparency.
Here, Cartier’s panther icon is captured in motion, stalking on a coral cabochon. Formed from diamond and onyx, with blazing emerald eyes, it’s a masterclass in kinetic colour.
This lace-like depiction of the panther is achieved by using onyx spots and diamond openwork motifs along with fluid Colombian emerald beads. This necklace is a masterclass in fluidity and depth, each detail threaded with extreme precision, enabling the panther to shine.
Inspired by the snow leopard, Tsagaan playfully toys with optical illusion. Geometric diamonds and crisp lines seem to come and go with the angle, which is an homage to the feline’s stealthy energy. Negative space also adds to the illusion of movement due to onyx detailing and contrast.
A trilogy of Colombian emeralds in octagonal shape is the main feature of Traforato, ringed with openwork mesh and rhythmic sequences of emerald and onyx. Its green, black, and white colour palette is unequivocally Cartier, creating a spellbinding dance of geometry.
En Équilibre is a testament to Cartier’s ability to find the stillness and motion, the simplicity in complexity, and to create a line of pieces that echo visual harmony.
