It’s time. We’re giving you a first look at Breitling’s new Spotlight Squad, unveiled with the launch of a dazzling new women’s collection, featuring the Chronomat 36 and 32 watches. As part of the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s #SQUADONAMISSION campaign, these timepieces reflect the versatility and confidence of three leading figures from the performing arts, actresses Charlize Theron and Yao Chen, and dancer Misty Copeland, each of whom is pushing boundaries in her field of work.
Quintessentially Breitling, these women of purpose, action and undisputed style reflect the creative spirit of the new Chronomat for women range. “Who better than Charlize Theron, Misty Copeland, and Yao Chen to turn the spotlight on major global causes as they redefine what it means to be a strong woman?” Breitling CEO Georges Kern said in a release. “What binds them together is the Spotlight Squad and Breitling’s dedication to change, diversity, and reshaping the world we live in.”

The watches comprise Breitling’s iconic Rouleaux bracelet with a butterfly clasp, which is both elegant and durable. The watches are COSC-certified, so you know that they’ve been independently verified for their Swiss precision. 100-meter water resistance means that you can fully submerge the watch, whether you’re swimming or soaking in a hot tub.

Available in two sizes, 36mm Automatic and 32mm SuperQuartz™, the watches are dressed in an array of sumptuous metal cases, including stainless steel, bicolor and 18k red gold. For a dash of sparkle, women can opt for the pieces with a diamond-set bezels and indexes.
The Chronomat Automatic 36, powered by the Breitling Caliber 10 with a 43-hour reserve, comes in 10 versions with special lacquered dials in white, pale green, midnight blue and copper. You’ll find the Chronomat 32 in seven versions with white and midnight blue dials, running on the Breitling Caliber 77 with a battery life of three-to-four years.

As for the Spotlight Squad, Charlize is known for her diverse career trajectory, with roles that range from playing a serial killer in Monster to journalist Megyn Kelly in Bombshell. Misty became the second African-American woman to be promoted to soloist with the American Ballet Theater in 2007, and the first to earn the title of principal dancer in 2015.
Yao has several accolades to her credit, which include bagging the Golden Mulberry Award for Lifetime Achievement at last year’s Far East Film Festival. Each of the three leading ladies has also championed humanitarian causes to help marginalized communities across the world. This year, Charlize’s charity organization, Africa Outreach Project, helped launch Together for Her, a global campaign against domestic violence during COVID-19.

Among Misty’s many feats is being the ambassador of MindLeaps, which uses dance to help youth in post-conflict countries like Rwanda, and partnering with the Entertainment Industry Foundation for #SwansForRelief to help ballet dancers cope with unemployment during the pandemic. As a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Yao has been raising funds for refugees in Asia. In 2016, she was selected as one of the Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum.
