Fahima Falaknaz is the definition of boldness – she’s fiercely stunning and powerful in the ring.

She was one of the first Emirati female boxers alongside Hanan Ibrahim al Zyodi, representing the UAE at the Asian Women’s Boxing Championship last year, after a rule that prevented female fighters from competing in their hijabs was taken down in 2019 .

And now, Falaknaz has gone a step further, paving the path for women who wish to follow in her footsteps.        She’s offering a ladies-only boxing class at the Real Boxing Only Gym in Al Quoz, Dubai.

A customer care manager by day, this self-confessed fitness fanatic has been practicing boxing  since 2016. The 35-year-old is also a die-hard fan of Bruce Lee films and Shaolin kung fu. Falaknaz recognizes her privilege of being able to seize the opportunity to enter the ring, and now wants to  share her joy and accomplishments from the sport by helping bring forward more talented women from her background.

“Boxing isn’t about fighting,” she said in a statement. “It’s about becoming better than you were and learning the self-discipline to be that person every day, to focus on your own power.” The ladies-only classes will run every Saturday at the Real Boxing Only Gym. Attendees can book online or call 04 272 7774 to reserve their spot.
