Gucci has become the first retailer to utilize Snapchat’s ‘AR shoe try-on’, allowing users to virtually wear four pairs of its shoes. Snapchat had announced multiple new features for brands earlier this month and the AR shoe try-on lens is among many other options that can be accessed on the app.
The luxury brand created two lenses for four styles, Gucci Rhyton, Gucci Tennis 1977, Gucci Ace and Gucci Screener. The augmented reality (AR) tool gives users the access to try on the brand’s range of shoes and also purchase them directly from the app using Snapchat’s ‘Shop Now’ button.
In a statement to Yahoo news, Selby Drummond, Snapchat’s head of fashion and beauty, said, “The entire industry knows that augmented reality try-on is going to be incredibly important to the future of commerce, and after many years of investing in the space, we’re proud to share it with Snapchatters alongside a brand that they love.”
The lens is available now to shoppers in the UK, US, France, Italy, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Australia.
