MAD Architects Unveil “Train Station In The Forest” In Jiaxing, China

Led by Chinese architect Ma Yansong, design firm MAD Architects unveil their design for the “Train Station in the Forest,” located in Jiaxing, a city in southeast China.

Founded in 2004, the architectural company is mainly based in Beijing, China, however it also operates on an international scale with offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Rome.

Yansong and his team drew inspiration from the city’s historic architecture and in particular Jiaxing’s old train station, built in 1907.

The project includes a renovated version of the old station with a modern underground space and a new urban green centre, allowing travellers and visitors to enjoy a nature-friendly environment.

The station will blend in with its green surroundings, creating a park-like atmosphere throughout the area, hence the name “Train Station in the Forest.”

The project aims to bring life to the city and increase its appeal to visitors.

On the ground floor, the glass walls will allow for natural sunlight to shine through the station, while the roof will feature solar photovoltaic panels that generate electric power and highlight the project’s sustainable side.

The project is expected to be done in July 2021.
