French maison Parfums de Marly recently launched its newest luxury fragrance Kalan in Dubai with an evening awash in color and charisma. The brand boasts a stellar mix of niche fragrances, and Kalan is no different. The creative force behind Parfums de Marly, Julien Sprecher, is a seasoned perfume connoisseur. Launching Parfums de Marly in 2009, he didn’t just walk into the perfume industry. He grew up as an industry insider, as his father was affiliated with the House of Guerlain in the Middle East. Julien developed his own love of perfumes while working in his family’s distribution company in Asia and the Middle East, before launching his own brand.

“When I create a perfume, I want it to be round with clear, seductive top notes and and an immediately-discernible base. The harmony between the materials and the accords creates this olfactory music that’s the signature of our 26th fragrance, Kalan,” he tells Villa 88.
