Sound bath healing is all set to free you of stress in the new year with rhythms that resonate with your inner being and tunes that sync to your heart beat. Sound has long had a history to calm us, entrance us and bewilder us with its soothing effects and now it’s back in a way we’ve never seen (or heard) before.
How it works?
The technique, however is far from anything to do with a bath but the term is a metaphorical usage for spiritual cleansing which occurs as a result of this immersive journey. A wide variety of instruments, including tuning forks, crystal bowls, chimes, and of course the voice are used to generate harmonic vibrations that tap into the alpha and theta brain waves for a deeper mode of relaxation. Sara Auster, a Brooklyn-based sound therapist, explains the effectiveness of sound bath healing on her website, “By using particular combinations of rhythms and frequencies, it is possible to shift our normal beta state (concentrating and reacting) to an alpha (creative and relaxed), and even theta (meditative) and delta (deep sleep; where restoring and healing can occur).
