British architecture and design company Zaha Hadid Architects has won a design competition to build the International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, China.
The center aims to showcase the capital as China’s cultural hub and one of the world’s leading spaces for communication, research, knowledge and international exchange. The building will be located near the city’s airport, one of the busiest in the world, in the Shunyi District. It features exhibition halls, a conference center, gardens, cafés, an outdoor public space and a hotel.
The International Exhibition Center will be a smart building, charged with renewable energy from solar panels. It will also include high-quality heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems throughout the indoor space to ensure premium air quality.
