Audemars Piguet debuted its new, limited-edition, Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.
A collaboration between haute couture designer, Tamara Ralph and Swiss haute horlogerie manufacturer, Audemars Piguet, the timepiece was showcased during Ralph’s runway show.
The watch case is crafted from 18-carat pink gold. Using a Florentine jewellery technique to create the glittering Frosted Gold, it effortlessly combines the worlds of haute horlogerie and haute couture. Created to sparkle on the wrist, the timepiece catches the light as the wearer moves.
Set in a bronze-gold colour palette, the face has a tiered, multi-layered dial which was inspired by Ralph’s feminine couture garments.
Forming the centrepiece of the watch’s multi-layered architecture is a sapphire crystal, set in an 18-carat gold octagonal frame.
Speaking on the design, Ralph said: “My intention for the design of this piece is for it to capture the spirit and craftsmanship of both my brand as well as Audemars Piguet.”
“The complications of watchmaking orchestrate a foundation which can be played with in terms of textures, colours and designs, allowing for the savoir-faire of couture to shine through. Rich materials, unique colour palettes and ultimate precision are combined, creating an exquisite limited edition of the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon, inspired by haute couture.”
