UAE Shopping Malls Will Be Closing Their Doors For Two Weeks

In the early hours of Monday, the UAE’s Minsitry of Health announced that all commercial centers and shopping malls will remain closed for a renewable period of two weeks. The initiative is part of the country’s growing efforts towards containing the spread of COVID-19.

The closure will be implemented within 48 hours, according to the announcement by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Crisis and Disasters Management, and is subject to reassessment.

Restaurants will also not be allowed to serve customers in their premises and shall be operating through home deliveries. Grocery stores and pharmacies are exempted from the ban. In a statement published by the UAE’s Minsitry of Interior, residents have been urged to stay home except for absolute necessity. The directives also advise against visiting hospitals unless for critical and emergency cases.
