Coping With COVID-19: What I’m Doing To Protect Myself And My Family

There’s so much happening around us right now and I’d like to start with telling each and everyone of you to understand how blessed we are. If there’s anything that the Coronavirus outbreak has taught us, it’s how much more grateful we need to be for the life that we live.

Having given birth just about a month ago, I was in a different state of mind, enjoying motherhood and recuperating post-delivery. I do my best, like any one of you, to remain positive and focus on the bigger picture. I understand the implications of everything going on in the world right now; as a parent, I also understand the concerns and fears you may have for your children.

Here’s what I’ve been doing: staying at home, enjoying more home-cooked meals, reading a book and snoozing my alarm a little longer whenever possible. Our world is a beautiful place; you’ve seen the stunning colors of the desert sand set against the bright blue sky. Suddenly, I’ve been noticing nature’s gifts a lot more than I ever was and I’m sure you are too.

In the midst of uncertainty, it serves us to reflect on how we must remain calm, avoid the information overload and stay positive. This attitude may not cure the pandemic at hand, but will foster kindness, positivity and love, which we all in dire need of, now more than ever. Stay grounded and reinforce the beliefs that solidify your faith and hope in difficult times. Meditate, breathe and pray. Do what you keeps you calm and take care of yourself, physically, emotionally and mentally.

It’s essential that we all stay at home and follow the stipulations by the UAE government. As a new mother, I’m doing my best I can for my baby Luna. Yes, I have moments of worry and fear, just like any other mom, but isn’t that part of motherhood? During these trying times, do the best you can as a parent, but also give yourself a break. Prioritize your health because your family’s well-being also depends on it.

Happy staying at home, guys.

Love,

Rawan
