Known for a more edgy, avant-garde exploration of high fashion, led by emerging voices in the industry, London Fashion Week has officially kicked off its Spring/Summer 2027 runway with Paul Costelloe. Featuring 80s power shoulders, sleek tailoring, and interesting styling choices, the show proved to be a fitting opener for the week-long showcase.
Creative Director William Costelloe’s second collection for the house was designed to feel effortless and spontaneous, defying conventional styling rules and open to personal interpretations. The colour palette spanned navy blue, white, and cream, accented by sky blue, with patterns restricted to just stripes.
Thinking beyond the familiar Costelloe styling, oversized clutches, stylish beach bags paired with tailored silhouettes, blazers over swimsuits, and long coats over bralettes, every choice was intentional and fresh. Structured tailoring did not restrict the silhouettes, with flowy fabrics, A-line skirts, balloon-hem capris, and pussy-bow accents bringing added visual interest to the collection.
The runway also paid homage to the late Dolly Parton by closing the show with one of her classics, “Here You Come Again”.
Day 1 of London Fashion Week wrapped up with brilliant showcases from Agro Studio, exciting debuts by Joyce Bao and Francesca Lake, and Harris Reed’s Loud Whispers, celebrating 5 years at LFW. With Alexander McQueen and Mulberry making their much-anticipated return, we’re excited to see the runway unfold in the upcoming days.
