New York Fashion Week Is Returning Next Month With A Dazzling New Calendar

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), in collaboration with IMG, released the official New York Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2022 schedule last month, riveting the attention of fashion enthusiasts the world over. The shows, which are running from 8 till 12 September will mark the long-anticipated return of in-person shows to New York City after two seasons of mainly digital presentations.

Since Tom Ford took the reins as Chairman of the CFDA in 2019, he shortened the official schedule to five days, and created the American Collections Calendar to feature all American designers, who will show outside of the official NYFW dates. The idea is to further position and bolster NYFW’s growth to attract global media and retail, according to CFDA.

“New York Fashion Week is back with a diverse line-up representative of the future of American fashion,” Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, said in a release. As we look forward to this September season, we’re proud to come together with the CFDA to support the revitalization of New York Fashion Week,” commented Leslie Russo, President of IMG’s Fashion Events and Properties.

Among the show’s highlights are Altuzarra’s return to New York City, and anniversary collections by Carolina Herrera and Rachel Comey. The schedule also includes Gabriela Hearst, Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Rodarte, and Rebecca Minkoff.

On the international designer front, Moschino by Jeremy Scott and Peter Dundas of Dundas will be showing at NYFW this season. Other notable developments include the launch of the IMG Fashion Alliance, which will support 11 American designers showing during NYFW for the next three seasons.

The showcases will continue to be presented via RUNWAY360, which is CFDA’s centralized digital hub, and in-person shows will take place in accordance with New York State Health guidelines.
