Closing the London Fashion Week on 21st September, Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection brought a surprising warmth to the runway. Marking the house’s 170th anniversary, Creative Director Daniel Lee brought together a collection he describes as an embrace of intentional imperfection. Presented at the Chelsea College of Arts, the collection reimagined the house’s signature trenches, heritage checks, and tailoring with an effortless, lived-in charm.

The runway opened with a dusty mauve trench that doubled as a mini dress with a voluminous bubble hem and relaxed drop-shoulder sleeves. Rather than treating rainwear as merely a utilitarian garment, Lee put them front and centre, turning them into the main event. The collection did not shy away from infusing colours, the palette spanning muted orange, sage green, butter yellow, soft pink, and blues alongside vibrant floral prints, embroideries, and beadwork. 

Dresses, skirts, and sheer trenches arrived coated in sequined floral embellishments and vibrant patterns while cartoon-like face graphics appeared across sweaters, tops, and buttons. The collection also features sequined dresses with floral jackets thrown over, bringing a tactile contrast. 

A direct nod to contemporary British culture, rapper Central Cee also made his runway debut with Burberry, wearing an oversized, slouchy denim paired with a bright blue hoodie. His presence reflected the brand’s ongoing dialogue with youth subcultures, bridging high-craft heritage with modern street culture. 

Contrary to usual runway standards, Burberry closed the show with a modern statement, a cream coat embroidered with delicate yellow flowers paired with tailored trousers, a matching embroidered clutch, and embellished shoes. The collection reinforced the idea that contemporary luxury is defined by how effortlessly it fits into daily life.
