Hyundai Reveals A New Autonomous Vehicle Concept: TIGER

South Korean automotive company, Hyundai, revealed its new vehicle concept, TIGER, which stands for Transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot.

The four-legged machine is being developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s New Horizons Studio located in California. The studio was established about a year ago and aims to develop the brand’s range of ultimate mobility vehicles (UMV) and discover innovative ways to build products that are able to adapt to any off-road terrains.

“Vehicles like TIGER, and the technologies underpinning it, give us an opportunity to push our imaginations. We are constantly looking at ways to rethink vehicle design and development and re-define the future of transportation and mobility,” said Dr. John Suh, Head of New Horizons Studio, on the brand’s official website.

The first version, TIGER X-1 is designed to carry any type of goods while overcoming challenging or isolated grounds that are normally hard to navigate. The robot is meant to be lightweight and ideal for surface evaluation and exploration whether on earth, the moon or a different planet.
