A Look Inside Saudi Arabia’s Dazzling Saudi Cup

The latest stop on Saudi Arabia’s equestrian circuit? The coveted Saudi Cup. The event took place from 19-20 February at Riyadh’s King Abdulaziz Racetrack and saw the Saudi-owned racehorse Mishriff win the $20-million award.

Among its many highlights was a new Dress Code for the Royal Enclosure, established by Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission, fashion heritage expert Dr. Laila Albassam and illustrator Norah Sahman. A wondrous reflection of the Kingdom’s cultural vocabulary, the theme inspired guests to adorn traditional wear bedecked with gold embellishments and head-turning headpieces.

What’s more? Famed Saudi designer Honayda was appointed to represent local fashion for the second year running in a collaboration that shined the spotlight on Saudi Arabia’s heritage through fashion. “Each of our 13 provinces has its own character, its own beauty and traditions, the kind of richness I aimed to portray in my designs for this international event celebrating our culture,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Here, we round-up a selection of the most alluring looks from the Saudi Cup.
