Gradient by Nader Gammas Arrives in Dubai

In Dubai’s evolving creative landscape, a new space is bringing together art, design, and storytelling under one roof. Nader Gammas introduces Gradient, his first gallery in the city, now open at Alserkal Avenue. Blending contemporary works, collectible design, and vintage pieces, the space reflects a highly personal and intuitive approach to curation, one that invites visitors to experience design not just visually, but emotionally.

Designer Nader Gammas introduces Gradient, his first gallery in Dubai, now open in Alserkal Avenue, bringing together lighting, collectible design, antiques, and art within a single curated space. The gallery presents a mix of contemporary works, new collections, and vintage pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries, all selected through Gammas’ intuitive approach to design.

Gradient was created from a straightforward need: a space to showcase Nader Gammas’ own creations alongside works he collects and admires, inviting visitors to engage with art and design from different eras and experience pieces that he hopes will connect personally and inspire them to take home.

At the core of Gammas’ practice is lighting, which he describes as a medium that transcends function. “Lighting can be considered a fourth dimension—it evokes emotion in a way that few other elements can,” he explains. Trained in architecture, Gammas considers the discipline’s relevance beyond aesthetics, applying  design principles such as rhythm, scale, and material relationships to all aspects of his work, ensuring that each object complements the space and contributes to the overall experience.

The gallery is organized into four zones – the curiosity space, open gallery, vignette room, and mural backdrop – each offering a unique perspective on the collection. Gammas’ curation focuses on mood and harmony rather than the era of each work: “I believe if there is a clear enough taste palette, everything falls into place. Objects, regardless of when or how they were created, carry a feeling that resonates with adjacent pieces. There is a timelessness about them, which is something I strive for”.

The Dubai launch will also mark the debut of his new lighting piece, Sprout, alongside refreshed iterations of existing designs. The gallery will also feature pieces by regional designers including Iwan Maktabi, Omar Gurg, Slow Ceramics, and Ammar Kalo.

Gammas sees Gradient as contributing to the city’s evolving design scene by introducing layers of vintage and collectible work, adding what he describes as “patina” to Dubai’s aesthetic. Looking ahead, his practice will continue to explore craftsmanship and storytelling, moving toward more narrative-driven, handmade designs.
