Foster + Partners Are Set To Build Zayed National Museum In Abu Dhabi

Global British studio, Foster + Partners,  is set to build Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi.

The project aims to pay tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi for more than 30 years.

Founded by Norman Foster in 1967, the design studio gained international recognition for its projects and with offices around the world, Foster + Partners focuses on sustainable architecture, engineering and urbanism.

Located on Saadiyat Island Cultural District, the museum will transport visitors on a journey through time, where they will learn about the country’s rich history, culture and its transformation over the years.

According to the studio’s official website, “architecturally, the aim has been to combine a highly efficient, contemporary form with elements of traditional Arabic design and hospitality to create a museum that is sustainable, welcoming and culturally of its place.”

The museum will be comprised of a large auditorium, a lobby where visitors get to enjoy poetry readings, musical and dance performances, a majlis, a central courtyard and a restaurant highlighting the UAE’s Bedouin culture and tents.

The project is expected to finish in 2022.
