The Romanos Invited Guest to a Season of Longevity, Sport, and Storied Messinia

The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort in Greece’s Messinia region, is welcoming the autumn season with a programme combining wellness, sport and local traditions. Set among olive groves overlooking the Ionian Sea at Navarino Dunes, the resort offers guests opportunities to explore the countryside, join the olive harvest and discover the region’s history.

For travellers who enjoy staying active, the sporting facilities include access to four signature golf courses and Europe’s first Mouratoglou Tennis Center. The centre has 12 tennis courts, three padel courts, two pickleball courts and a squash court. Guided hikes and cycling routes take guests beyond the resort, through olive groves and along the beautiful coastline.

From mid-October, the olive harvest gives visitors a closer look at one of Messinia’s age-old traditions. Guests can join local growers to collect olives, visit an olive press and taste freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil. Separate tasting experiences explore the aromas, textures and quality of Messinia’s celebrated oils, with an expanded option pairing four varieties with bread, olives, cheeses and dark chocolate.

History forms another part of the autumn programme. The Messinian Odyssey experience introduces guests to the world of King Nestor through visits to the Palace of Nestor, the Pylos Archaeological Museum and Niokastro Castle. A longer itinerary also includes Voidokilia Beach and Nestor’s Cave. Other excursions range from Ancient Olympia and Ancient Messene to Methoni Castle, while guided philosophy walks and astronomy evenings offer different ways to explore the destination.

Back at the resort, Anazoe Spa has introduces an enhanced wellness approach built around two personalised pathways. The Longevity Compass starts with metabolic analysis to provide insights into oxygen use, cardiovascular efficiency and metabolic health. Treatments include guided cold-water immersion, hydrotherapy, pressotherapy and lymphatic drainage, complemented by sauna, steam and ice experiences.

Further, Kinetics Flow focuses on mobility, recovery and injury prevention through physiotherapist-led treatments. Options include preparation sessions for golfers, deep-tissue massage, myofascial release and percussion massage. Yoga, Pilates and breathwork complete the offering, giving guests space to slow down between activities.

Together, the seasonal experiences bring the resort’s sporting facilities and spa programmes into closer contact with Messinia’s food, landscapes and cultural heritage.
