The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, introduces Monte Carlo as a new destination for 2027. On 10 May 2027, the legendary train will travel from Paris to Monaco for the first time, following the scenic coastal railway along the Côte d’Azur. The route will become an annual addition to the train’s European schedule.

Guests can board the train’s signature midnight-blue carriages in Paris, choosing from Historic Cabins, Suites and Grand Suites inspired by the glamour of Art Deco heritage. The journey allows you to slow down and enjoy the rail journey while taking in some of southern France’s most striking landscapes.

Evenings on board will include dinner in the train’s elegant restaurant cars, Étoile du Nord and L’Oriental, followed by cocktails and live piano music in the famous Bar Car 3674. The next morning, breakfast will be served in guests’ cabins as the train travels past the red cliffs of the Massif de l’Estérel and through Saint-Raphaël, Cannes and Nice.

As the train nears Monaco, the route moves into the mountainside before reaching Monaco-Monte-Carlo station, which is located deep beneath the rock. The arrival brings together two enduring symbols of European glamour: the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Monte Carlo, known for landmarks such as the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Formula One Grand Prix.

The addition of Monte Carlo also carries another significance. In 1977, two original Art Deco sleeping carriages were acquired at auction in the city, an event that helped inspire the revival of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Nearly five decades later, the train’s arrival in Monaco adds a meaningful new chapter to its story.

With its historic carriages, fine dining and sweeping Riviera views, the Paris-to-Monte-Carlo journey offers a new way to experience the French coast at a leisurely pace, where the journey itself is as memorable as the destination.
