Sharjah Islamic Art Festival Returns For Its 24th Edition With An Exciting And Diverse Program

At the 24th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Art Festival,  a stellar mix of traditional and contemporary artworks have been riveting attention since the event launched at the Sharjah Art Museum on 15 December. Organized by the Department of Culture in Sharjah, the festival is one of the most renowned Islamic Art events in the region.

Around 248 artworks by 63 artists, hailing from 27 countries, will be showcased at this year’s iteration. Additional works will be on view at the Al-Majaz Waterfront and Maraya Art Center in Sharjah. Among the festival’s offerings are local and global exhibitions, interactive programs, activities and talks that will take place in association with entities like the Emirates Society for Fine Arts and Arab Photographers Union.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Gradate’, a gradual process of creation, which is intrinsically linked with everything in our external and internal worlds. Upcoming highlights include a workshop on making Arabic calligraphy pens with Hossam Abdel Wahab, and a Thuluth script session with Wafaa Al Kindi on 27 and 28 December, respectively. The anticipated ‘Architectural Art’ exhibition will take place from 6-7 January at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.
