Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum Launches A Festive Winter Capsule Collection

Emirati luxury fashion brand Azzalia has rolled out a Winter 2021 capsule collection with designs that are perfect for both lounging at home or stepping out for an elaborate holiday party. Inspired by brand founder and creative director Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum’s travels to Belgrade, ‘The White City’ line summons up the ethereal magic of the Serbian capital, which is one of the oldest metropolises in Europe.

“It’s a place where the worlds collide,” Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum said in a release. “The pieces capture the essence of the old and new Belgrade that offers a unique coming together of art and architecture, traditions and modern life. I’ve taken inspiration from its ornamental structures, contrasting high-rise buildings and vibrant night life.”

The name ‘Belgrade’ comes from the Slavic words ‘bel’ and ‘grad’ that mean ‘white city’ when combined. “The designs are inspired by my love of Belgrade, its cobblestone streets and retreats,” Sheikha Amal added about the capsule collection, which is part of the brand’s ready-to-wear ‘Lily’ line.

The collection features 26 outerwear and loungewear pieces that include robes, capes, jackets, abayas and dresses, each tailored using heather grey wool and popcorn texture wool that comes in hues like lilac, carbon, white, navy blue and peony pink. The abayas, dresses and jumpsuits have been crafted in plush velvet, which can be paired with statement earrings and embellished pumps for a night on the town.

Expect to relish daring cuts and sleek silhouettes with two-toned and hooded robes, crisscross and one-shoulder dresses, oversized jackets, and mariposa-cut velvet abayas. “There’s something for every fashion-forward woman in this size-inclusive line,” shared Sheikha Amal.

‘The White City’ capsule collection is now available at Azzalia.ae, Thouqi.com, Boksha.com, Galeries Lafayette Dubai and Mira Y Mano in Riyadh.
