Dear Asma,
As I fold away my memories of Kea, I realize the island had one final surprise waiting for me. It came in the form of a mid-day boat ride. In just thirty minutes, the endless blues of the Aegean gradually gave way to the Athens Riviera, proving once again how effortlessly Greece allows you to experience two entirely different worlds within the span of an hour.
Another forty minute drive later, I found myself at One&Only Aesthesis in Athens. If Kea whispered, Aesthesis hummed. The stillness of the island was replaced by a vibrant rhythm of laughter, music and conversation. The resort buzzed with life, yet somehow never felt overwhelming. It carried the unmistakable energy of the Athenian Riviera, a place where everyone seems to arrive for a different reason, yet everyone finds exactly what they came looking for.

What fascinated me most was the diversity of people around me. Young couples escaping for a weekend, groups of friends celebrating summer, families creating memories by the sea, solo travellers with books tucked under their arms. It felt like a destination that belonged to everyone. There was no single way to experience Aesthesis.

For me, Mystiko Beach became that perfect in between. During the day, it was an oasis of serenity, where the sea seemed to slow time itself. But only a short walk away, the atmosphere transformed entirely. Manko, the resort’s vibrant Peruvian fusion restaurant, effortlessly evolved from an exceptional dining experience into one of the Riviera’s liveliest social scenes. As the sun dipped below the horizon, music grew louder, glasses clinked, strangers became friends, and dinner naturally turned into a celebration. I loved that the choice was always mine. I could embrace the energy, or simply observe it from a distance.

One evening, however, I found myself drawn to an entirely different mood at Trigli. Perched just above the resort’s private beach, it is one of those places where dinner becomes as much about the setting as the cuisine itself. As the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon, the sky painted itself in shades of amber, coral and lavender, mirrored by beautifully crafted plates arriving at the table. It felt like one of those rare moments when the colours above you and the colours before you compete for your attention, and you happily lose track of time.

When I needed a quieter moment, I retreated to my bungalow. Hidden behind lush greenery, complete with its own pool and garden. More than once, I found myself sitting outside with a book, interrupted only by the occasional breeze through the pine trees. It made me realize that luxury is often measured by something as simple as having nowhere else you need to be.

One of Aesthesis’ greatest luxuries, however, lies beyond its gates. Athens is only thirty minutes away. One morning I wandered through the city’s bustling streets, where ancient history and contemporary life somehow coexist in perfect harmony. There is something incredibly special about spending part of your day immersed in the energy of one of Europe’s great capitals, only to return before sunset to a secluded beachfront sanctuary where the loudest sound is once again the sea.

Just before leaving, I treated myself to one final indulgence, a one hour massage at the Guerlain Spa. It was the perfect ending to my stay. Every trace of travel melted away, leaving me completely restored, relaxed and ready for the journey ahead and, perhaps more importantly, for the next destination. As I made my way to the airport, I realized that this is exactly how every trip should end, with a moment to pause, reflect, and prepare for whatever comes next. After all, as long as we continue to be curious, to explore and to seek new places and new stories, we should never stop travelling. There is always another destination waiting to teach us something about the world, and about ourselves.

Perhaps that is what makes One&Only Aesthesis so memorable. It never asks you to choose between city and resort, excitement and tranquillity, celebration and solitude. It simply offers all of them, leaving you to discover which version of yourself you wish to be on any given day.
Until the next letter,
Milo
