Dancing with the Aegean Winds

In Mykonos, where the wind is never merely weather, but a force of its own, Marija let it carry her thoughts — from the bright Aegean shores to the quieter corners of the mind. A journey shaped by salt, light, and the freedom to simply let go, explained in a #ForTheLoveOfTravel essay.

Dance Me to the End of Night
By Marija Ičevć

Soft hues welcomed me to Mykonos.
I came for the sea, but stayed for the air.

I didn’t expect the wind to become both the soundtrack and my companion throughout the trip.

It’s windy and it’s pretty hard to take the same picture twice when nature is constantly moving. Nothing stays still long enough to be captured.

So, I captured the feeling.

I stopped trying to take the perfect photo and just watched things move and shadows dance. Even the white walls seemed to move as the scene around them kept changing.
There was something liberating about not being able to control the frame.
Everything was breathing, moving, shifting. Nature was doing its own choreography.

The wind gathered all the sounds from the island and somehow turned them into its own melody. I didn’t need any additional music. I could have listened to it for hours.

The sea. The breeze. The wind. On repeat.

It felt like the island was breathing.
The air was refreshing. I needed that.
Maybe that’s why I couldn’t stop moving either.

The wind continued to carry me throughout the day and into the night.

It was dawn, and nature was still.
I guess she had fallen asleep, just for a moment.
And I had been dancing all night.
