You read that right. A £300 million (Dhs1.44 billion) luxury boutique hotel is set to be built in London’s swanky Knightsbridge. And get this: the hotel will be equipped with a secret tunnel to the world’s most renowned luxury store, Harrods.
Currently, the site has an empty underground tunnel for pedestrians and goods linking it to Harrods department store and plans are in place to reopen it upon the hotel’s completion. The proposed hotel plan will include 120 rooms spread across eight above-ground floors and three basement levels, along with 23,000 square feet of retail shopping space, a spa, a health club and a bar on the top floor.

Kensington and Chelsea’s planning committee has granted Singapore’s City Developments Limited (CDL) permission to develop the Pavilion Road car park site. The executive chairman of CDL, Say Kwek Leng Beng, said: “This site offers CDL one of the best opportunities to develop an outstanding hotel in one of the prime locations in central London,” reported The National. “We are tremendously excited by this and the value it will bring to our London portfolio and our valued clients.”
With London being among the most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting around 30 million visitors every year, this new development is sure to resonate well with Harrods’ loyal luxury clientele.
