After Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah’s absence from Jordan’s Independence Day celebrations last year — the first time ever, due to back pain — anticipation is high for her return next Monday as Jordan marks its 80th Independence Day.
Known for her unique style for the occasion over the years, Her Majesty has been on a mission to spotlight traditional Jordanian dresses, support local and regional designers, and blend high fashion with homegrown talent.

Celebrating Jordan’s Independence Day in 2017 Her Majesty Queen Rania wore a striking white caped gown, with an inner lining of the cape featuring a traditional Jordanian pattern, celebrating the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage. Finished the look with a box clutch by Dubai-based handbag label L’Afshar.

For the 77th anniversary of Jordan’s Independence Day, Queen Rania stunned in a statement “butterfly-emerald” silk dress by Taller Marmo, cinched at the waist with a vintage gold belt. She completed the elegant look with a clutch by Rafe New York.

Queen Rania attended Jordan’s 70th Independence Day in a design by Jordanian designer Hama Hinnawi, featuring a burgundy top paired with a richly embroidered skirt. The intricate red embroidery incorporated verses from the poem Amman fil-Qalb (Amman in the Heart) by Lebanese poet Said Akl, sung by the iconic Lebanese singer Fairuz.

During the 74th Independence Day, Queen Rania wore a blue kaftan, handmade with Palestinian embroidery from Dar Noora. She styled the look with the navy marble clutch from Dubai-based brand L’Afshar and Gianvito Rossi pumps. The look was topped off with Jordanian brand Stone Fine Jewellery’s “Edge” necklace and a pair of earrings by Ryan Storer.

On the 73rd Independence Day, Queen Rania opted for a green emerald and beige floor-length kaftan gown, featuring custom geometric embroidery details. She completed the outfit with a structured metallic gold statement waist belt and a black Chloé Nile bracelet bag.

To mark the 78th anniversary of Jordan’s Independence Day, Queen Rania chose a burgundy Solace London dress styled with a metallic belt and a knotted pouch handbag.

At the official celebrations of Jordan’s 69th Independence Day, the Queen looked dazzling in a floor-length black skirt with panels entirely embroidered with red floral motifs. She paired it with a white boat-neck blouse with wide-cuffed sleeves, puffed out under a black belt adorned with silver embellishments. These echoed the hand jewellery the Queen wore on her left hand: a bracelet linked by chains to three rings.

Arriving for the 76th Jordan Independence Day ceremony, the Jordanian queen opted for a traditional jalabiya embellished with colourful embroidery, matching pumps, and a mini triangular lilac bag by local brand Lyn.
