Beymen Marks 50 Years with “Golden Opulence” Exhibition and Global Project

Celebrating more than half a century as the epitome of luxury fashion and lifestyle in Turkey, Beymen unveils a global project that illuminates the 500-year journey of luxury in the region. The company marks its 50th anniversary with a multifaceted endeavor that took over two years to prepare, involving an advisory board comprising experts in academia, art history, museum direction, and literature.

In this extensive project, Beymen delves deep into the 500-year history of Turkish geography, exploring objects, jewelry, motifs, and manuscript decorations. The findings of this comprehensive study were shared with over 50 global brands influencing the realms of luxury fashion and design. Each brand, drawing inspiration from this invaluable work, designed and produced bespoke pieces reflecting their unique identities.

Curated by journalist and writer Laurence Benaim, the resulting creations are showcased in the ‘Golden Opulence’ exhibition, a centerpiece of Beymen’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. The exhibition, hosted at Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center, is divided into three thematic sections: ‘Precious Dreams,’ ‘Bosphorus Gardens,’ and ‘Mineral Roundness.’

The ‘Golden Opulence’ exhibition also welcomes guest artists, featuring digital works by artist Hakan Yılmaz and Sefa ‘Minelauvart’ Kocakalay, as well as a Beymen-exclusive piece titled ‘Flowers’ by Japanese artist Miyouki Nakajima, available for viewing between November 6-30.

This ambitious project includes contributions from over 50 global brands that shape luxury and fashion, such as Valentino, Balmain, Dior, Givenchy, Etro, Brunello Cucinelli, Stella McCartney, Dolce&Gabbana, Zimmermann, and Victoria Beckham. The designs, inspired by the 500-year luxury journey of the region, highlight the cultural heritage’s importance and value.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Beymen collaborates with Assouline, a global publishing brand, to produce a special book titled ‘Golden Opulence.’ Curated by Laurence Benaim, the book delves into the history of fashion, culture, and art, featuring photographs by renowned photographer Laziz Hamani.

Further enriching the 50th-anniversary festivities, Beymen presents a documentary directed by award-winning British director Khadifa Wong. The documentary, dedicated to ‘the journey of luxury in these lands,’ unfolds the history of luxury, its diverse reflections on life, and the profound meaning it adds to the human experience.
