Brazilian artist Marcos Marín presents ‘The Emir’ collection at ME by Meliá

At the Zaha Hadid-designed Opus Building, home to ME by Meliá — the only hotel in the world entirely conceived by Zaha Hadid — acclaimed Brazilian artist Marcos Marín, renowned for his mastery of optical and kinetic art, has transformed the hotel into a living canvas with his captivating works, on display until 20th April.

Marín’s work is renowned for its ability to manipulate movement, light, and perspective, drawing viewers into an immersive dialogue between art and human perception. This exhibition features over 60 pieces, guiding guests through an iconographic journey that bridges fine art, architecture, and cultural symbolism.

More than a mere showcase of artistic mastery, it is a celebration of cultural storytelling, where portraits of Arab royalty, featured in The Emir collection, including UAE leaders and other distinguished figures from the region, stand alongside international icons. This juxtaposition creates a dynamic conversation between regional heritage and global artistic influences, offering a profound exploration of identity, tradition, and contemporary expression.

Marcos Marín’s work embodies the synergy between art, architecture, and identity, offering a compelling exploration of form, movement, and the transformative power of visual expression.

During the exhibition, Marcos Marín paid homage to the iconic Zaha Hadid on the anniversary of her passing by unveiling a sculpture in her honour. This tribute merges Marín’s distinctive artistic vision with Hadid’s groundbreaking architectural legacy, celebrating her enduring impact on the world of design.
