W Hotels is making a splash with several new outposts dotting the region. The latest in its string of luxurious addresses is W Muscat, a beachfront property in the Shatti Al Qurum area that’s set against the wondrous Al Hajar Mountains. With 279 guestrooms and suites, the hotel is replete with details that reference Oman’s rich cultural sensibilities.
“Muscat is a fascinating and an exciting city…” Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader, W Hotels Worldwide, said in a release. “The hotel reinterprets Omani design and cultural traditions to create a modern, energetic and stylish Escape unlike anything the sultanate has seen before.
The hotel’s design takes a cue from the natural locale, from the glorious mountain range to the Omani desert, from the glistening bay to the Arabian Sea that stretches as far as the eye can see. Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International, added, “With its evocative design and fresh and vibrant energy, I’m confident it will soon emerge as a preferred getaway for both locals and global jet-setters alike.”
Upon arrival, expect to satiate your senses with a nine-ton frankincense tree sculpture, designed by renowned artist Pongsatat Uaiklang, which pays tribute to Omani culture and its national treasure. You can stay in the extra spacious and edgy EWOW suite (aka presidential suite) that’s filled with Arab-inspired accents.
Think about titled white paneling on the ceiling, a saddle-like leather chair and mustard yellow stool sitting neatly on the floor, and a faux fur wall inspired by camel and horseback rides. Also on offer is the Away Spa, where you can unwind in one of the 10 treatment rooms, or the hammam. We surely have you sorted for the long weekend.
