Claiming the throne from over 90 contestants from around the globe, Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa teared up as she was crowned Miss Universe 2019 earlier this week in Atlanta. While the world witnessed history being made as Zozibini became the first woman of color from South Africa to wear the Miss Universe sash, the winner took  to Instagram to express her feelings. 

“Tonight, a door was opened and I could not be more grateful to have been the one to have walked through it. May every little girl who witnessed this moment forever believe in the power of her dreams and may they see their faces reflected in mine. I proudly state my name Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe 2019!”

And what’s a huge feat for the Middle East is that Lebanese jewelry brand Mouawad has to its credit designing the iconic crown for the pageant. And we’re delighted that Zozibini’s win echoes Mouawad’s message so beautifully. A true win for humanity.
