In a Kingdom first, Dolce & Gabbana is bringing its Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria shows to Saudi Arabia on 27 January. The three collections, which include women and men’s couture and high jewelry, will be shown in AlUla as part of AlUla Moments, according to The National.
The shows in Saudi Arabia will take place alongside the Ikmah Fashion Cavalry Show in Jabal Ikmah. The site is described as an open-air library with ancient inscriptions etched into the stones. Attuned to the equestrian mood of the Ikmah Fashion Cavalry Show, the Dolce & Gabbana event will feature 12 Arabian horses in custom-made dressing as a nod to the region.
The handmade pieces will go on display inside the Maraya building in AlUla after the event. Visitors can take a closer look at the pieces and get tailor-made items by the Dolce & Gabbana atelier, which will be flown in especially for the occasion. The Dolce & Gabbana shows are part of the Winter at Tantora festival, which is dedicated to the heritage and culture of the region and runs until 12 February.
Known for its lavish events that boast its signature Italian flair, Dolce & Gabbana has previously showcased its Alta Moda collections in a temple in Sicily, houses in Milan and New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. The last show took place at the iconic St Mark’s Square in Venice, which riveted attention with a dazzling runway amidst theatrics and thunderstorm.
