Pick your side has a whole new meaning, as Hotels.com recently unveiled the world’s first half-and-half suite, the ‘So Extra So Chic’ at The Curtain in London’s hip Shoreditch,  which is a room split straight down the middle with one half done up with maximalist interiors, and the other, with minimalist. The room has been dreamt up by the ‘so extra’ Johnny Wujek, costume designer behind the iconic looks of Katy Perry and Mariah Karey, and the ‘so chic’ Kaitlyn Ham, tastemaker and fashionista.

On the ‘so extra’ side, you will find golden ornaments, monkey lamps, and a luminescent mini bar, all brought together with clashing prints, vibrant rugs and wallpaper for a whimsical feel. “I wanted my side of the room to feel exciting and EXTRA, but also comfy and cozy,” Johnny said about his side of the room in a statement.  It’s a touch of overgrown Great Expectations with a dash of California-casual. Style is all about self-expression and, clearly, I have a lot to express. Baby, you better stand out in this world.”

This is contrasted with pared-down, and clean lines and monochromes on the ‘so chic’ side, which is dressed with a statement white leather lounge chair, line-drawing art, decoratives in muted tones, and a plush wool throw. Kaitlyn said, “I took inspiration from modern mid-century design to create a space that feels open and calming. All the pieces were chosen for their style and functionality with a focus on quality. The space should feel modern and light yet have an inviting warmth that makes it feel like home.”
