This Emirati Theta Healer Is Changing The Wellness Game

Inside the peaceful Park Center in Mirdif, Dubai, you are sure to come across an elegant storefront, the pale glow of the space with walls awash in a calming eggshell blue will catch your eye. This is Illuminations Well-being Center, home to holistic healing and other new-age pursuits of health and wellbeing that are slowly permeating the daily regimen of many in the country. Here, you can meet Mira Al Ameri, a licensed Emirati Theta healer who has much to share about the wondrous benefits of the wellness technique.

A graduate in chemical engineering from the American University of Sharjah, Mira worked in two oil and gas companies until 2013 before she quit to pursue something more profound. A few years later, in 2017, she discovered Theta healing. “I have five years of experience as an engineer, but feel that my true calling is being a healer,” she says. “I am still an  engineer, but I like practicing Theta because it is just amazing,” she adds.

Theta healing gets its name from the slow, relaxed ‘theta’ waves that the brain emits when you are in deep meditation or during Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. It helps you ease into a meditative state with the aim of clearing out negativity and limiting negative beliefs that are deep-rooted in both the conscious and subconscious mind. The resulting state of mental relaxation is believed to help you determine the reasons behind repeated negative patterns, fears and limitations.

So, why is this method of treatment slowly emerging as a preferred alternative to mainstream medicine? “You can take back control of your life and feel empowered through Theta healing,” notes Mira. During the process, your brain waves slow down to Theta mode, which is believed to alleviate stress and anxiety. It is a quick, safe and pleasant experience that prioritizes and shows reverence for patients, Mira explains, adding that it also induces physical relaxation, mental clarity and pain relief, among other benefits.

It is commonly believed that repressed childhood memories can impact the way we perceive the world. We may internalize stereotypes and it is harmful misconceptions like these that Theta healing helps avert. At the core of the process is to have the ‘belief’ that the procedure will work and, according to Mira, it has produced immediate results without the use of any medicines or invasive procedures when the patient shows that faith.

It can be thought of as a low-impact mental detox that will give you the space and courage to rewire your brain to operate in more productive and positive ways. Mira explains that Theta changes the modality of healing, so you do not have to spend hours trying to meditate or align your chakras. It is different from yoga and other forms of meditative healing because, as a patient, you do not have to be physically active, change your diet or spend hours trying to focus on the mind. After a couple of sessions, it is said that Theta will help change your reality, make you feel balanced and grounded, and empower you to make positive changes in your life.

“It increases self-love, which is the most important factor of all,” shares Mira, adding that it helps one focus entirely on one’s own wellbeing. This paves the way for other beneficial habits such as healthy eating, exercising, mindfulness and maintaining work-life balance. “In the past, I felt bad and was in a dark zone. When I had the right intent, things shifted for me dramatically. You are the creator of your own reality—I believe in this because I have experienced it. The minute you make the intent to change your reality, you see it happen.”

And what better way to demonstrate that intent than helping to transform the lives of others, as Mira does on a daily basis? Perhaps you should see for yourself. You can book a session with Mira at Illuminations Well Being Center in Mirdif, Dubai. +971 4 448 7043, Illuminations.ae
